With the end of the year approaching, it is easy to fall into the cycle of anxiety and stress. However, sometimes it is difficult to remove yourself from that cycle, which is affecting your mental and emotional health. The thing is, you do not have to go through this alone, no matter what you may believe or feel.
Â
Often times, we tell ourselves things such as “I don’t want to bother my friends”, “I don’t want to be a burden”, or “I can take care of myself”. That is not the case. Everyone needs a friend that they can go to when things go wrong, and believe it or not, there are so many people in your life who are happy to help you with anything.
Â
If you are looking for help, but don’t know where to start, here is what you can do to get the help you need.
Â
1. Take a Deep Breath
The desire to be independent can often blind us from doing what is best for us. When you feel like you need help with anything, first take a deep breath and know that everything is going to be okay. Things will get better, no matter how things look right now.
2. Pick 3 People You Trust The Most
The easiest people to talk to are the ones you trust the most. Whether that person is a family member, a friend, or someone you see as a mentor, find a person you know you can talk to and confide in. This person will be your support system throughout this tough time, no matter what.
3. Do Not Be Afraid
We all know how tough it is to confide in others and without the fear of judgment, especially in a world where we feel as though we need to be “perfect” all the time. Here’s the catch: NO ONE IS PERFECT AND THAT’S OKAY! No matter what you think of others, just know you are not alone. Someone you know will be able to help you with what you are going through.
Â
Life can get hard sometimes, but that doesn’t mean you have to go through those hard times alone. In life, we are surrounded by friends and family who love us very much and can be our support systems throughout our lives. Don’t be afraid to share your story and get the help you need.
