Style Guide for Every Valentine’s Day Date

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gonzaga chapter.

Valentine’s Day is a day about love and telling others how much you love them so it’s no surprise you would want to go out on a date with your significant other on Valentine’s Day.  Every year I try to put together a cute Valentine’s Day outfit that subtlety conveys I’m celebrating the holiday without screaming red hearts and pink glitter.  I’ve put together the ultimate outfit guide to every sort of date night you might go on for Valentine’s Day with your significant other.  Whether or not you choose to celebrate on February 14th or wait until the weekend, everyone deserves to feel good about themselves during date night.  Scroll down to find your perfect outfit for your V-Day date!

Fancy Dinner Date Night

Back on your Feet Ruffle Dress from NastyGal for $25!

Steve Madden Ankle Strap Sandals in Leather for $90

For a fancy dinner date, dress up in this fun ruffle dress!  The red color helps bring in the festivity of the holiday without going overboard.  Plus that open back is to die for and shows off the perfect amount of skin.  You can wear any nude heel with this dress, these are just my favorite. You can also try tall riding boots with this dress too!

Casual Movie Night Out

Jack by BB Dakota Regine Sweater on Revolve Clothing for $80

American Eagle Mom Jean for $60

The great part about going to a fun movie night with your significant other is you can dress as casually as you want! I like to dress up a little bit for holidays, such as Valentine’s Day, which is why this baby-doll pink sweater is perfect! The bell sleeve is flirty and paired with a high waisted mom jean, which will give you great curves even if your’s are non-existent, your date definitely won’t forget you’re a knockout!

Day Date at a Coffee Shop or Local Park

Chic Mauve Pink Lace Midi Duster Cardigan from Ledyz Fashion for $34

American Eagle Sapphire Mist Jegging for $50

Charlotte Russe Laser Cute Lace Up Booties for $41

Sometimes it’s hard to make date night happen, especially as a college student. This doesn’t mean you should just skip it all together though! Maybe try something new and do a day date with your partner at a local coffee shop or make a picnic and head to a park.  You’ll get to have meaningful conversation and really connect with one another, which is what Valentine’s Day is all about!  Go casual by wearing your favorite pair of jeans (these ones are mine!) with a fun pink/red/purple cardigan so you still feel festive.  You can wear your favorite nude bootie or dress it down with a pair of Converse or Nikes. And this day date might just inspire you to do more of them in the future!

Active Date

Lulu Lemon Reveal Tight Precision Leggings for $118

Lulu Lemon Free to be Serene Tank (2 in 1) for $68

Maybe you and your significant other love to be active and hang outside whenever you get the chance. In that case, go for a hike together or head to Bowl & Pitcher for some time outdoors.  You can reconnect not only with each other, but also with nature.  These fun leggings and top will get you in the mood for whatever level of difficulty you take on together.  The details on the leggings are pretty and I personally am a big fan of all Lulu Lemon tank tops. Plus it’s pink for Heart Day! How fun! You can also switch both items out for more affordable options, such as Target or Old Navy leggings and workout tops.

Girls’ Night Out

Noisy May Leather Look Jacket by ASOS for $60

Cute Hot Pink Dress from Lulus for $38

Finally, not everyone has a significant other they can celebrate in person with or maybe you are single and ready to mingle!  Either way, hit the town with your girls in this hot pink dress and leather jacket combination.  You are sure to catch the eye of some cutie at the bar (if you’re single) or you can take super cute selfies to send to your long distance love!  So step out in this hot number and own it! Valentine’s Day is for everyone and this outfit is perfect for a night out on the town with your squad.

I believe you have to love what you’re wearing to exude the inner confidence already inside you.  No matter what your Valentine’s Day date looks like this year, try out some of these fun outfits and have the best time celebrating those you love! Happy Valentine’s Day collegiettes!
