4 Ways To Limit Stress During Finals Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GSU chapter.

Finals week has officially arrived and just the thought of studying for exams can be stressful. Acing your finals without sacrificing your sanity sounds impossible but by being a bit more strategic you can make getting through testing a bit easier. Here are 4 tips to help you limit stress during finals week and succeed:

1. Assess what your finals exam week looks like.

The first step to preparing for a week full of testing is to outline what your days are going to look like. Make a schedule detailing which exams you have each day and their respective times. Having a clear agenda will help you plan your studying sessions accordingly.

2. Take a break from studying.

Trying to memorize your notes and refresh your memory on previous lectures can leave anyone feeling burnt out and anxiety ridden. Avoid letting finals week put a strain on your well-being by taking a break from study time. Take a nap, visit a coffee shop, or hang with friends. Do whatever will help you get rid of exam week jitters.

3. Develop your study strategy.

Having a game plan will make navigating your exam days much simpler. Developing a strategy for what topics you’re going to review and when is key to holding yourself accountable and making sure you’re studying effectively.

4. Utilize your resources on campus.

If you need additional assistance preparing for finals, make the most of your tuition dollars and visit the appropriate campus buildings. Whether it’s hitting up the library or making an appointment to meet with your professor during their office hours, take control of your success and be proactive during this important time of the semester.
