If you’re looking for something to do with your free time, other than scroll through your social media, I have a wordier alternative. As fall approaches and the weather gets a bit cooler, now is the perfect time to stay indoors and cuddle up with a blanket and a book in your hands.
Welcome to Kayla’s Book of the Month Club! The way this will work is at the beginning of each month, I’ll announce a book along with a preview of what’s to come. Then, as the Book of the Month Club, we’ll read the book over the span of the month. On the last Thursday of every month, I’ll publish a review of the book.
As we dive into reading each book, we can chat in my email (kaccoo1999@gmail.com) about the book and I’d be more than happy to mention our conversation in the review article (with your permission, of course).
With the launch of Kayla’s Book of the Month Club, I’m hoping to mark the beginning of a new era: one in which we put down our phones and turn back to simpler times. A time where we write more letters instead of texts, play hopscotch instead of Fortnite, and most importantly read books instead of just binge watching Netflix shows.
So, let’s talk about our first read: “The Alchemist”, by Paulo Coelho. From what can tell, this book is hinting toward a grand adventure and I can’t wait to follow! The reviews I’ve read are saying that everyone should read it at least once, so I want to accompany you all on this journey from cover to cover. On a serious note as well, I value the importance of books and knowledge through self teaching, so I want this book to provide a source of intellectuality for those looking for a read of such stature.
This book has been recommended to me by my mom, my friend, and my stepdad. Because these people are all so different from each other and they all told me it’s a must-read, I knew I had to grab it right off the shelf at Barnes and Noble!
My mom told me it has a lot of meaningful messages and golden takeaways, so I’m excited to begin reading our first book! Check back the last Thursday of October for the tell-all review.
