Halloween is right around the corner and if you’re like me, you’ve procrastinated on a costume until the very last minute. Whether you’re planning on going to a Halloween party or just taking your little sibling trick-or-treating, here are a few quick tips that are easy to make in our busy college schedules.

You’ll find online that there are plenty of DIY costumes you can create and a crazy amount of scary looks you can do with makeup. One costume that looked easy but quite fascinating was the “grumpy cat” makeup look. All the materials that were used can be found in your makeup bag at home, or at your nearby Michael’s craft store.

To put together this look, you simply need some white and brown makeup, or face paint. Start by adding white face makeup all over your face. Then, apply and shade the brown face paint underneath your eyes, on your cheekbones and in a V-shape down to the side of your cheeks. Follow the picture of the grumpy cat for accuracy. Finally, throw on some leggings, a white long-sleeved shirt, some cat ears and you’re good to go!

Next up, if you’re not really into doing the face paint, we have loads of easy ways to throw together Halloween costumes that can be found already in your closet. If any of you recall the “Rosie the Riveter” poster from WWII, you know that it’s a Halloween favorite for women. All you need for this quick costume is a denim shirt paired with jeans and a red bandana.

Of course we all know how to put together the kitty cat costume for Halloween, but I bet you don’t know that being Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s is just as easy to do. Simply put on the little black dress you have stored in the back of your closet, a pearl necklace and some sunglasses.

Another Halloween look you probably hadn’t thought of that is both unique and fun to wear is the Frida Kahlo costume. It’s super simple because all you really have to do is find a lace, flower print top, red lipstick, and some black eyeliner to draw the uni-brow. If you really want to go all out, you can put a big, plastic flower in your hair and perhaps a stuffed bird or monkey toy on your shoulder. Some might confuse you with a pirate if you choose the bird, but hey that’s proof you chose a great costume.

Finally, we have the athletic costume. This might be the easiest costume to put together, all you have to do is find some workout gear like wrist bands, a visor or any other sports equipment you can get  your hands on around the house. If you really want to get into it, you can gather some items pertaining to a specific sport. For example, a tennis player wears a skort, a tank top and carries a tennis racket. You could even glue on a tennis ball to make it more authentic!
