Skincare has become so prominent and more widely spoken about recently – and rightfully so. The significance of taking care of your skin and searching and buying products for your skin only. It took me a long time to realize that skincare is so important and that I should have started a long time ago to take care of my skin. I used to just use a generalized moisturizer and a little bit of cleanser occasionally until about two years ago when I realized that I really should be doing something a lot more than that to keep my skin healthy. I have been fortunate enough to have good skin and not deal with skin-related issues throughout my teenage and early adult years, so I never felt the need to add more products or any products on my skin. After I did my research, I noticed that I could still help my skin and make it a lot better in terms of glow. Here are some products that really helped my skin glow and clear it over time.

1. Rosehip oil

Rosehip seed oil was one of the first products I ever added to my skincare and it has been amazing! It helped with any scarring on my face or discolouration, which I had a little bit of on my forehead. It just felt so soothing to apply at night and I always woke up with a very soft face. There are many companies that have rosehip oil but I initially got it from The Ordinary (‘cuz it’s Canadian) and I’ve been using it since.

2. Caffeine Solution

Another great Ordinary product! I started using this at the same time I started with rosehip oil and it was mainly to tackle my dark circles and puffiness. I got dark circles when I was really young and I know it wasn’t from lack of sleep or stress back then but it’s stuck around and I have to deal with it now. The Caffeine 5% + EGCG solution helps reduce puffiness and reduces the dark circles which I have noticed make a change on my skin. After a few weeks, you can see the difference.

3. Gel Cream

The hydro-boost gel cream from Neutrogena is one of the latest additions and I love it! I’ve normally stuck to oily skin type for a while because it wasn’t too much that it would bother me, but recently and especially during the summertime it would get in the way. It makes it hard to apply moisturizer because it would eventually get oily but the gel-cream is water-based and absorbs quickly so it prevents the skin from getting oily. It makes it much easier to apply SPF afterward without your entire skin getting greasy.
