This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Guelph chapter.

Location: 41 Quebec St, Guelph

Who they are: The Bookshelf is a bookstore/movie theatre  located in downtown Guelph.

The bookstore: The bookstore features a variety of genres  among other things. Connected to it is  Miijidaa café and bistro so after you’ve done your book shopping you can head over for a bite!

The theatre:  Located upstairs, the theatre features an array of primarily independent films. Tickets with membership are $10 while non-member ticket prices are $13. During the semester I don’t often go to movies, but I watched Lady Bird in first year at the Bookshelf. My roommate and I purchased our tickets downstairs (though this may have changed since) and proceeded upstairs where we waited until allowed in. There is a small concession for all your movie snacking needs but I suggest first saving a seat and then going back.

What to know: Students can get a free membership to the bookshelf which offers a discount on both movies and books (specifically 10% off books). If you’re attending one of the movie showings at the theatre upstairs, make sure you get there earlier to ensure the best possible seats as the theatre is small. Additionally, you can find the movie showings either through their flyer which can be picked up in the bookstore or online.
