Amazon Prime Releases Daisy Jones and the Six Adaptation
The highly anticipated adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel Daisy Jones and the Six is set to release Friday, March 3. The first three episodes will be released on March 3 and one episode will be released every Friday following, with a total of 10 episodes.
The story follows the bands rise to fame and the highs and lows as they work through their relationships and rapidly rising popularity. The book is set as an interview with each of the members that follows the story of the band up to its dramatic conclusion.
This book has been on my tbr (to be read) list for forever, in with all the anticipation for the show I knew I had to read it before the release date. I ended up finishing up the book in just a few days and I have now joined the crowds of those awaiting the upcoming release.
One of the most exciting things about this book is that with every word you feel yourself transported to the world of the characters; this world of seventies rock ‘n’ roll and of life on the road with this intoxicating band. The book throws you into the lives of these up and coming musicians who are on the rise to stardom and whose lives are full of creating music, parties, navigating relationships, and living the “Hollywood” life. It is easy to forget about reality around you and immerse yourself in this feeling. But when I put my book down I have to look up and remember that my life does not consist of new cities every night and writing music everyday; instead I’m writing essays on theory and reading 100s of pages each week that were written by people 100s of years ago. It’s hard not to wish for this kind of life you read about in books, you see in every TV show and movie, and you watch celebrities get to have through social media.
If you’re anything like me, every time you read a book or watch a movie it becomes your new hyperfixation; Daisy Jones and the Six and the world of a rising rock band is no exception. As soon as I finished reading I was quick to imagine myself in that world, to listen to the two songs from Daisy Jones and the Six that have been released so far, and every song that fits their genre.
It is often something I talk about and imagine with my friends. We ask each other: if you had all of the talent would you be an actress or a singer? Which of these worlds would you be a part of, these lives that are so different from our own and so exciting in a different way. It is so tempting to yearn to be a part of whatever life you are watching, for something more exciting than whatever is happening at the present time.
But for now (or at least until I discover my secret hidden talent), I will fulfill that longing by tuning in on March 3 for the premiere of Daisy Jones and the Six and letting myself escape into this fantasy world and pretend that nothing around me exists for those couple hours.
