Liven Your Look like Blake Lively!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

She plays the ever-stylish Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl, is the face of Chanel, and has that perfect cool California goldie locks look. Blake Lively, like her character Serena, always knows how to strike the perfect balance between sexy and chic. Who wouldn’t want to emulate her style for less? Just the fact that she is BFFs with Christian Louboutin himself makes me beyond jealous. Whether she’s rocking an amazing dress on the red carpet or a simple look on the streets, her style is effortless and now yours can be too!

The body con dress
If there’s one thing that Blake Lively knows how to wear, it’s the body con dress. Whether it’s a plunging V-neckline, a cut out back, or a high slit, she always shows the perfect amount of skin. She wore this white dress with black mesh and a back cut out. This simple but sexy look is really the essence of Blake’s style. Try this Free People sweetheart dress with lace back ($68). The sweetheart neckline is very flattering but the lace in the front also covers you up so you don’t have to feel exposed while your whole back is bare. This dress comes in a seductive black or you can mix naughty with nice and choose their purple hydrangea color. If you don’t want to show too much skin but still want the body con dress that showcases your figure, this color block dress from NastyGal is perfect ($48). It has a cool racer back and three different colors that are strategically placed to make you look thinner and curvier. So flattering!

Geek Chic
Ok, let’s be real. There is nothing Blake Lively can wear that will make her look like a “geek”. She could wear a garbage bag and still be alluring. This is why she makes the perfect example of how to rock a blazer. As seen in this picture, Blake likes to mix masculine and feminine items. She balances her boyfriend blazer with a girly yet structured skirt and high heels. Obviously the staple of the “office official” look is the blazer…there has to be the right amount of slouch versus structure. Forever 21 has a great linen blazer in charcoal for just $18.99 Roll up the sleeves to right below your elbows for that carefree look. The blazer brings enough seriousness to the look; you don’t want to seem stuffy! For a cool twist, try a blazer with some texture. This velvet blazer from Gap is perfect with a great skirt of pant and a girl top ($89.99)! Pair a structured but still fun skirt like this tweed multicolor skirt from JCrew ($98). Who says tweed has to be old fashioned? This staple will get you from internship interview to a night out to dinner in Georgetown with your friends and will look great with a blazer and tank top or just a casual white t-shirt.

Whether you want to wow someone in a stunning dress or are simply looking for a pulled together look, Blake Lively shows us how to do it right. While her clothes are always amazing, her signature feature is of course her golden hair and makeup.
