My Go-to Skincare Products That Won’t Break The Bank:

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

Here are some of my favorite skincare and makeup products this spring. Some are drugstore, some are a bit higher end and I adore all of them!

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser ($12.89 on Amazon)

https://www.cerave.com/skincare/cleansers/foaming-facial-cleanser

I have actually been using this cleanser for about three years and it has never failed me. It makes my skin feel super soft and clean. It doesn’t contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide so it never dries out my skin. I use it in the morning and at night.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizer ($16.97 on Amazon)

https://www.neutrogena.com/skin/skin-moisturizers/neutrogena-hydro-boost-water-gel/6811047.html

I started using this moisturizer this winter when the heating in my dorm was drying out my skin super badly. I only use this at night because it does not have any sunscreen in it. The hyaluronic acid in this moisturizer is a lifesaver. It can hold over 1000 times its weight in water within the cells of our skin.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($18.99 on Ulta)

https://www.ulta.com/positively-radiant-daily-moisturizer-spf-30?productId=prod2126006

It can be a bit difficult to find the SPF 30 version of this moisturizer instead of the SPF 15 version but it is definitely worth it. Especially in the spring, it is so important to put on sunscreen in the morning, even if it’s cloudy! It makes a huge difference for your skin in the long run.

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream ($32 on Origins website)

https://www.origins.com/product/15348/11641/skincare/treat/eye-care/GinZing/Refreshing-Eye-Cream-to-Brighten-and-Depuff?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0MT61bLI4QIVBp-fCh03Hwt2EAQYAyABEgLnBvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Under-eye circles are the worst. I have found this eye cream to work super well to cover them up a bit. I put it on at night before my moisturizer and I always wake up in the morning looking a bit more awake. You only need the tiniest amount so it lasts a while!

Valjean Labs Glow Facial Serum ($15 on Urban Outfitters)

https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/shop/valjean-labs-facial-serum?adpos=1o1&cm_mmc=SEM-_-Google-_-PLA-_-437321057994_condition_new_product_type_apartment_product_type_furniture_prod&color=072&creative=251347692366&device=c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrYzx2PbI4QIVEovICh0sIgRxEAQYASABEgK3GPD_BwE&inventoryCountry=US&matchtype=&mrkgadid=3275540851&mrkgcl=671&network=g&product_id=43233709&utm_campaign=BRAND_SHOPPING

I very randomly bought this when I was shopping for clothes in Urban Outfitters last summer and completely fell in love with it. It makes my skin less red, softer and just generally glowier. I have never had issues with reactions but make sure you check labels before because serums have different ingredients than regular face washes.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask ($10.95 on Amazon)

https://www.amazon.com/Aztec-Secret-Cleansing-Original-Bentonite/dp/B0014P8L9W

I am obsessed with this mask. It is so easy to mix with a variety of ingredients based on your skin’s needs. I like mixing it with apple cider vinegar to neutralize the clay, I have tried it with water and I don’t think it works as well. I also love mixing it with honey for its antioxidant properties. Truly one of the most versatile bentonite clay masks on the market.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($30 on Sephora)

https://www.sephora.com/product/radiant-creamy-concealer-P377873?skuId=1478361

This is 110% my holy grail concealer. It covers up everything and stays on all day! It blends super nicely with my Real Techniques Foundation brush. I use it mostly under my eyes in the Vanilla shade but it also can be used all over. My friends with tons of different skin types use this and all love it.

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer ($9.90 on Amazon)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018B8Q66O/ref=twister_B01MTCRKTZ?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

One of the most natural-looking bronzers in my opinion. There is absolutely no orange color in it and it blends so nicely. It is perfect for everyday wear and stays on all day. The best part is definitely the coconuty tropical smell.

Clinique High Impact Mascara ($19.00 on Sephora)

https://www.sephora.com/product/high-impact-mascara-P122912?icid2=products%20grid:p122912:product

This was the first mascara I ever tried and I keep coming back to it. It makes my lashes so long without being clumpy. This mascara is super easy to build with and I think the color is darker than a lot of other mascaras. It stays on all day and comes off super easily with makeup wipes.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Divine dark ($18.88 on Amazon for a 3-pack)

https://www.amazon.com/Batiste-Shampoo-Divine-Dark-Count/dp/B01CYDXMVE/ref=sr_1_9?crid=2YM7ETNYITCSX&keywords=batiste+dry+shampoo&qid=1555015702&s=beauty&sprefix=batiste%2Cbeauty%2C120&sr=1-9

If you’re anything like me, you hate the white residue that most dry shampoos leave in your hair. Especially as a brunette, this made me stop use dry shampoo and wash my hair every day (which is not good!!). Batiste saved me with this colored dry shampoo. It gives volume to my hair and covers up any greasy roots without turning my hair white.

Remember that we all have super different skin types so one thing could work for me and not work for you. Take the time to try products out. Most places (Sephora especially) let you try samples before buying full-size items. Take the time to do some self-care, it is so worth it!
