How to Make the Most of Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break is about to begin, and I think we’re all very ready! We’re lucky to have a whole week off, so be sure to take full advantage of the upcoming break. Here are some tips for having the best possible experience:
- I hate to say it, but use some of your time off to get some work done. If you know the last few weeks of the semester will be extra busy, get a head start on a couple of projects or papers, or study for that big upcoming exam. Or, if you’ve been letting some reading slide, get caught up while you’re not too stressed out by other things. But on the other hand…
- Actually take a break! This point in the semester can be pretty overwhelming, so let yourself relax. Don’t overpack your schedule, and don’t go overboard with schoolwork. Catch up on some sleep, eat your favorite home-cooked foods, and curl up with a good book or Netflix binge.
- Spend time with loved ones. Plan a night with your friends from home; maybe even organize your own Thanksgiving dinner at a time when everyone’s available. Also, it may seem like a given considering it’s Thanksgiving, but spend time with your family too, and not just time that you have to. Even though it can be a little difficult from time to time…
- Be prepared for many questions about school and your future. You don’t have to lay down a detailed answer for every inquiry about your grades, your love life, your social activities or how your major is going to be useful in real life. But indulge your family members and at least have some basic responses ready.
- If you’re not going home, you can still enjoy your time off. If you’re visiting friends or family that live closer than your home, take advantage of the time you get to spend with them. Maybe you’re going somewhere where you can sightsee or explore new experiences! Even if you’re staying on campus, it will be nice to have more space to yourself. Stake out some new study spaces you haven’t tried yet and make the most of having a dorm room to yourself if you don’t already.
