Many of us love the holiday season, but you may be finding it more difficult this year to get into the spirit of things. Let’s face it, we could all use a pick-me-up, especially with the end of 2020 approaching so quickly. So with that said, I have put together a short list of ways that you can make your room cozy and festive for the holidays.

Lights:

Lights, in my opinion, are one of the easiest ways to bring the ambience of the holidays into your room. String some white, yellow, or colored lights around your room and turn them on after it starts to get dark, as they give off a very relaxing holiday vibe. I particularly like to string lights around my bed, as they function as festive nightlights as well. For some extra holiday decor, cut out some paper snowflakes and weave the lights through them to bring some snow inside without the cold!

Pillows and blankets:

Throw pillows and blankets are a wonderful addition to any room, as they can make a room feel complete and they can function as seasonal decor as well! They’re especially nice during the holiday season, as we tend to have the desire to wrap ourselves in blankets when the weather starts to get chilly. Some patterns that are great for the holiday season include plaid, snowflakes, and candy canes. Pillows and blankets, in my opinion, are some of the best holiday decor items, as you can keep using them every year.

Scented candle:

Scented candles are a perfect addition to any room during the holidays. If you want your room to smell like gingerbread or sugar cookies, but you aren’t that into baking, a scented candle is definitely the way to go. The flickering motion of the flame is very cozy and relaxing as well. To add some more holiday flare and an extra boost of scent, take a pillar candle and line some cinnamon sticks around it and tie with a holiday themed ribbon!

Bringing nature inside:

To me, nothing screams holiday season more than pine cones and pine needles. The contrast of the brown pine cones and the green needles against the pure white snow is absolutely gorgeous. Paired with some poinsettias or cranberries, they make beautiful decorations. If you’re crafty, you could even take it a step further and make a holiday themed wreath or scented pine cones to add an extra layer of warmth and coziness to your room.

Holiday music:

Music is one of the easiest ways to get into the holiday spirit, so if you’re feeling as if you need that extra push, pull up a holiday themed playlist and let it work its magic. As much as I adore holiday music, I sometimes find it to be a bit distracting, especially if I’m doing homework. Because of this, I often head over to YouTube and play a holiday ambience video, as they tend to offer soothing holiday sounds like crackling fires, windy snow storms, and faint instrumental music.

I hope that these ideas have given you a bit of inspiration for getting into the holiday spirit, as we could all use a little holiday cheer, especially this year.
