So, you just received your class schedule, and your professors are already talking about assignments, quizzes, and tests. The first thought that pops into your mind is… “How am I going to survive this year?” Well, sit back and take a deep breath, because I am going to give you three tips that will ensure you a successful semester.

The three tips we will be discussing are; Prioritizing, Goal Setting, and Having Confidence!

1.    Prioritizing

Prioritizing your classes, obligations, and task will help to increase your overall motivation to achieve a successful semester. When you take the time to sit and plan your activities and assignments you become more invested into your work. Something that truly helps me to stay present in the semester is investing in a good planner. Planners increase your organization skills and act as a constant reminder of what you are trying to accomplish.

2.    Goal Setting

Setting goals throughout the week and month also help to encourage your overall outlook on the semester. Goals can range from many different aspects as well, from academics to personal development. Applying goals to your semester schedule, will give you motivation to complete certain tasks.

Ex: This semester I will take 30 minutes out of my day to practice self-care.

Ex: I will complete a chapter a day for my HIST 106 course.

3.    Having Confidence

This tip is easier said than done, but self-motivating yourself is one of the best ways to keep moving forward. You are your biggest critic, so when you tell yourself “you can’t do it” your mind starts to believe. A great way to self-motivate yourself is to listen to Podcast. One of my favorite stations to listen to right now is, Slay Girl Slay. The host Ashley talks about topics that are very common amongst young girls, especially college students. The last suggestions are to download Self Affirmation apps. These provide daily messages that help motivate and encourage you throughout the day.

Ex: Eternal Sunshine, SelfishBabe, and Mantra

I hope these tips were helpful, don’t forget that everyone gets down once in a while, but it is your choice to get back up and try again. Go kill this semester babe!
