5 Essential Tools To Have A Great Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Hey, y’all !! So OBVIOUSLYYY, HerCampus is back and ready to let y’all know all about the ins and outs to make this semester a great one. When it comes to classes, we need all the help we can possibly get. Not having all the perfect necessities to have a great semester can bring you down. Thankfully, I’m here to give you a bit of guidance on what you need to make this semester yours.

  1. Your Laptop

Ok, so I know that this one can be quite obvious, but having your laptop on hand is so important. All your assignments and projects depend on this one device. Not having your laptop on deck at all times can definitely put you in a few dilemmas. Making sure your laptop is always charged and ready to go is key to having the perfect semester.

  1. Having A Planner

When you get into college people are constantly telling you to make sure you have a planner because, without it, you’ll be all over the place. Whenever I use to hear this, I immediately disregarded it. I always thought, “Well, I went this long without a planner so I’ll be good”. NO !! Sadly, it took me two years to finally purchase one but since purchasing my planner it has come in handy so much. Having a planner keeps you organized and sane. Writing down upcoming assignments and tests definitely gives you some sort of relief. Buying a planner and using it sets you up for complete success. Your time management and productivity are improved which releases any stress that you might possibly have.

  1. The Library

The library, and I cannot stress this enough, is so essential to having a productive semester. The library is seriously the best place to do all the assignments that are given. It literally accommodates your work style with solo/group rooms and the quietness in the library helps tremendously.

  1. Healthy Foods

Alright, not gonna lie, the past two years on campus I have not been eating completely healthy because… it’s college. But, over the summer, boy did I learn a great deal about consuming healthy foods. Eating healthy most definitely contributes to your overall mood. It makes you feel lighter, bringing a positive attitude to whatever you do. Eating junk makes you feel sleepier and lazy, while on the other hand healthy food/snacks keep you vibrant and awake. I’m not saying to turn completely vegan, but watch what you put in your body because the foods you do consume will affect your work ethic. So, make sure you’re eating a healthy meal and buying some healthy snacks to munch on throughout the day.

  1. Get Some Sleep

We all know the amount of sleep we get can determine the type of day we’re about to have. Being in college keeps you extremely busy, with trying to keep up with your social life and your academics; but through it all, getting the right amount of sleep improves the way you’ll go about accomplishing your goals. If you’re a person that’s busy everyday besides the weekend, use the weekend to catch up on some sleep. If you’re a person whose busy every day of the week with no breaks, find a way to squeeze a nap or two into your schedule. We need everyone to succeed!!

With this being said, I wish everyone reading a great semester and let’s get to work!!
