I know, Amazon is bae.Â
Â
The company is one of the most successful companies in the world. In fact, Amazon is the largest Internet company by revenue in the world. It is the second largest private employer in the United States and one of the world’s most valuable companies. Amazon was founded by Jeff Bezos way back in 1994. Decades later, it rose to the top of the game. But you know the saying âmoney is the root of all evilâ. With Jeff Bezos being one of the richest men in the world, you would think his spirit of giving would be top notch due to all he has been blessed with.
Â
 Wrong.
Â
Amazon is the way we do a lot of things. Order clothes, electronics, and listen to music but, you would boycott this company in a heartbeat if you found out the raw truth about the company and its owner…right?Â
Â
- Â Jeff Bezos cut benefits for part time workers after buying Whole Foods
Yes you read that right. The richest man in the world cut medical benefits for his part time workers who make it possible for his company to run smoothly. After buying Wholefoods Jeff Bezos founder & CEO of Amazon cut medical benefits for 1,900 part time workers. Imagine getting your benefits taken to allow funds for your bossâs new property. Tragic.
Â
  2. Jeff Bezos is working with ICE
Jeff Bezos working with ICE was a huge shock to me. Bezos is currently pitching Amazonâs facial recognition software to ICE to help track, deport, and separate immigrant families. ICE is the Immigration Customs Enforcement, aka the people who have children in concentration camp like environments for being or having parents that are immigrants. Supporting Amazon puts millions of dollars into ICE. From this event it is important to track your money. ICEâs main goal is to deport and separate families to make even more money in this capitalist society.Â
Â
  3. Bezos is partnering with the police to target POC
Â
Bezos also sells face recognition technology to police which has expanded police surveillance especially targeted in communities of color. Itâs great to take the bad guys out of any community, but targeting just communities of color is just plain out racist. With this new technology, he is selling looks (which is helpful), but why is it only being implemented in minority filled communities?
Â
 4. Bezos cut benefits for every non-union employee
After buying the Washington Post, Bezos completely froze benefit pensions and eliminated future retirement medical benefits for every non-union employee.
Â
 5. Bezos was callous to an employee deathÂ
An Amazon worker died on his shift. He was in cardiac arrest on the warehouse floor for 20 minutes before anyone noticed. After he died, Amazon workers were forced to go back to work. Bezos truly had no empathy for the worker that died under Amazonâs watch. Seeing someone come to their death is quite traumatic and being forced to go to work after seeing something as such is even more cruel.Â
Â
  6. The company is an oxymoronÂ
The company receives millions of dollars to provide well paying jobs, yet a third of its employees are on foodstamps. This demographic really says a lot about the company! How are you the most financially stable company, but canât get your workers off food stamps and section 8? If youâre working for the richest man alive you should NOT need government assistance. This is incomprehensible.Â
Â
 7. Prison like conditions
I saved the worst for last. An undercover journalist working at Amazon discovered workers were peeing in bottles to avoid punishment. The journalist also says the Amazon warehouse was âlike a prisonâ. Workers should not be scared of authority and management while at their own job!
Â
This glorious company we order things off of almost every week is actually corrupt. A boycott of Amazon should be started until Bezos gets his company in order. I wonât be back on the site and I encourage you to do the same.Â
