“It’s our world, they’re just living in it,” as one of my favorite influencers, Aaliyah Jay, would say. For those who don’t know, Aaliyah jay is a fashion designer, beauty influencer, and fashion model. She is very well known for her contributions to the makeup, fashion, and cosmetic industries.
In fact, she did Nicki Minaj’s makeup in early 2018, for her single “Barbie Dreams,” but that’s another conversation. You can find her on Youtube giving her beauty tips and tricks, on Instagram giving us killer fashion looks, and/or collaborating with other brands.
“I’m in my element this year,” says the popular influencer, and that she is. Aaliyah is only 26-years-old and is currently working to transition herself from a beauty influencer to a full-time fashion designer. Ms. Jay has explained that she has always thought that makeup was her passion, and didn’t realize that she had a passion for fashion as well. She is now the founder and designer of her new clothing line Twisted Saints. Aaliyah recently relaunched her clothing line in January of 2022 and is currently working on new summer looks.
I don’t know Ms. Jay personally, but she has influenced my journey with makeup and my journey as a future entrepreneur as well. As a young teen, I always desired to learn how to do my own makeup. I would always watch Ms. Jay’s Youtube videos.
When I finally reached the age to try my own makeup, I went out, brought the materials, and finally put those years of watching tutorials to the test. Although for my first time I did a really decent job, I figured I could take it a bit further.
I have been inspired by Aaliyah Jay and her passion for not only doing makeup but teaching other women how to do it as well. I am currently working on my craft and perfecting my makeup skills, not only for myself but for others.
Yes, we know Aaliyah Jay can do an amazing beat, but that is not all. Aaliyah has shared her business journey publicly via Youtube and Instagram. She has shared the highs and lows of her business journey with the world, being clear to make us aware that she was not an overnight sensation.
This was very inspiring and motivating to me because I want to build my own brand myself. Sometimes I need a bit of motivation, on days that are harder than others, and listening to Ms. Jay’s story influenced me.
Overall, I do not know her personally, but Aaliyah Jay is someone that I admire and would appreciate meeting. I also love the standard that she is setting for herself and wishing other women do as well. The slogan for her brand Twisted Saints is, “this is a Twisted Saints world. This is our world, they’re just living in it.” This is the whole concept of embracing yourself, who you are, and loving yourself through the process.
