On Friday, September 13, 2013, Hampton University held its’ first Homecoming Unveiling Ceremony. This event was free and open to every student enrolled at HU. The event was hosted by the Student Government Association, or SGA, and the Greer Dawson Student Leadership Program. A lot of students were excited and anticipating what events are taking part during homecoming, but most importantly what artist we are having to perform during homecoming. During the ceremony, a preview of a fashion show was showcased dancing and our illustrious marching band “The Force” performed and had the crowd hyped and dancing.
Many students were disappointed that the artists for the homecoming concert were not announced. However, the events that are to take place during that week have students still excited since most of them are free.
Some of the other events that are to take place during homecoming week is a fashion show that is free and hosted by a “special guest”, a bonfire followed by a party held outside, the Bay Side Festival held outside on campus and a Bazaar Fashion Show. Overall, the Homecoming Unveiling Ceremony was awesome. It was a great way to draw the students to the events that will be held during homecoming week and to keep them guessing and excited about more to come. Hampton’s homecoming week is October 6-12.
