Name: Cherise McAdoo

Classification: Sophomore

Major: Marketing

Hometown: Detroit, Michigan

HC: What is your favorite fall color?

CM: I love burgundy! The color is so rich, it’s sweet and sassy to me.

HC:  How do you maintain natural hair while being away from home?

CM: I became natural in college, so it definitely was a challenge because I really had no clue what to do with my hair. YouTube and shea butter have been my best friends. I’ve experimented with different styles and products, but the key is finding something that moisturizes your hair.

HC: Who are your biggest inspirations?

CM: My mom is my biggest inspiration. She’s a breast cancer survivor, she sacrifices a lot, and still manages to keep a smile on her face. Another would be First Lady Michelle Obama. She’s the epitome of elegance, grace, intelligence, and fun.

HC: What are some of your life goals?

CM: My biggest goal is to make God proud of me, to love His people and bring them closer to Him. I want to own my own entrepreneurial hub, specifically for women.

HC: How did you come up with the Committed?

CM: Pearis Bellamy and I noticed that so many people think that once you start living for God that you have to be boring. You don’t have to be a boring Christian, you can have fun, go to events, and be social. We wanted to demystify that stigma. As well as the stigma that waiting to have sex until marriage is something no one does anymore. And no you don’t have to be a virgin to start.

HC: How do you balance having fun in college and remaining a Christian woman?

CM: I won’t say that it’s easy, but I know it will all be worth it. It’s easy to get pulled in so many different directions because everyone says “college is your time to live”. I admit that there was a time that I tried to “live” like everybody else, but it wasn’t fulfilling. Balancing is really about accepting the fact that you’ve been called to a different purpose and sometimes that means you can’t go to every Harbors turn up or smoke with the squad. It means staying in the Word and finding people who are like-minded and having a blast!

HC: What is your favorite song?

CM: Right now my favorite song is Bloom by Wale. But Jersey by Future gets me hyped.

HC: What are your plans post graduation?

CM: I plan to work for an awesome company for 2-3 years to build my capital for my company and network as well. After that, I plan to start my company, as well as make Committed or Pretty Virtuous Young Ladies a non-profit organization and have chapters at colleges and universities around the world. Who knows, maybe I’ll have a bae that Jesus gives me by then.
