Fabulous Freshman: Bethani Price

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

This weeks Fab Freshman is Bethani “Baffy” Price and she is a first year Early Childhood Education major from Atlanta, Georgia. She is very active on her campus and serves as the role model shadow of S.I.S. (Sisters Inspiring Sisters), an organization in which we mentor, teach, and inspire high school young ladies.

HC: How would you describe your first semester at Hampton?

BP: Definitely eye-opening! College comes with a lot of free time with which I had to learn isn’t really free time *laughs*. You can use your time to be social and/or nap all day or you can go to the library and study all day. You can also learn to have healthy amounts of both. And that’s what I had to learn to do. I also learned the whole “broke college student” thing is definitely not a joke.

HC: What are your goals for the 2018 year?

BP: I just want to be a better version of myself. I feel like this is going to be my year. I want to get closer to God and keep him first in everything I do and the rest will follow.

HC: How would you describe your personality?

BP: I would definitely consider myself a goofball. I’m always laughing at something, but I’m also super sweet and I love meeting new people.

HC: Who is your favorite artist?

BP: My husband of 8 years… Bruno Mars!

HC: What brought you to Hampton University?

BP: Honestly the scholarship money brought me here, but I’m glad that I came here. I’ve met some amazing people and made some lasting memories that I wouldn’t have gotten if I went somewhere else.

HC: Do you have any special talents?

BP: Eating, sleeping, and Netflixing are what I’m best at, but I’m pretty decent at playing the flute and tennis as well. I’ve played the flute since I was in the sixth grade and I’ve played tennis since I was in the tenth grade.

HC: What do you want to accomplish during your 4 years in undergrad?

BP: I plan to bring up my GPA this semester and keep it up throughout the rest of my time here. I also plan to make lifelong friends and continue to grow into the best person that I can be.

HC: What is a quote that you live by?

BP: “The Lord directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?” It keeps me from stressing about things and keeps me focused on doing me.

HC: Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

BP: Chance The Rapper. Not only do I love his music, but I also admire the way he’s constantly involved in his community, especially in the public school systems.

HC: If you can have any superpower what would it be and why?

BP: Teleportation. Because all this walking all over campus and stuff is overrated.
