This week’s Fabulous Freshman goes to Kayla Snowden. She is a 1st year – 5 year Psychology Major aspiring Social Worker from PG Maryland. This 5’0 caramel sweetie is also a member of Women’s Caucus, the Senator for SGA on the Building and Grounds committee, and she’s fluent in Latin.
HC: Why did you choose Hampton?
KS: I chose Hampton because it was an HBCU. The atmosphere is what was unique to me. I have 3 of my best friends here and people I knew before, plus it’s not to far not to close to home.
HC: Is Hampton what you expected?
KS: Yes, and no. I can’t see myself anywhere else, I love the people here, but I dislike how small it is, especially if you’re from the DMV.
HC: How would you describe your style?
KS: My style is unpredictable. It’s based on how I feel that day, some days I feel like popping out others is a leggings day. Jhene Aiko is my style inspiration.
HC: How would you describe your type?
KS: Very few catch my eye, the first thing I notice is his style and the way he walks. Walking with confidence catches my eye.
HC: Have you met the Hampton Man yet?
KS: I’ve only encountered a few true hampton men. To me the Hampton Man always holds the door and speaks to you when they see them. I feel like most boys just try to “hit it and quit it” , even though I’m not really looking for a relationship right now I still don’t want that.
HC: How do you feel about the 3:1 ratio in your class?
KS: I don’t really care about freshman boys, from what I’ve seen they do girls dirty.
HC: What’s the biggest turn off for you?
KS: Immaturity is the biggest turn off and no ambition. He needs to be about his business and have a giving heart.
HC: A lunch date or a new gift?
KS: Definitely quality time over material.
HC: What is a characteristic people wouldn’t guess about you
KS: I’m extremely goofy, I’m always on joke time.
HC: Where do you see yourself in the next 10 year
KS: At 28 I want to be working on my Phd and working with battered and abused women and children. I want to spend a few years in the Dominican Republic doing social work. I’ve seen the problem with how some people live and I want to help. Ultimately I want to stay in the PG and open my own practice.
