The annual Hampton University Christmas Tree Lighting took place on the lawn of the nursing building on Thursday, December 3rd. Remarks from President Harvey, Ms. Hampton- Brittany Harper, and members of administration opened the ceremony as the Hampton U community stood next to the tree. Musicians from our band played softly in the background. The Christmas Tree Lighting is a tradition of Hampton University that gets everyone on campus into the Christmas spirit. With a Christmas dinner on the way, all types of community service going on, and friends gathering together in celebration before returning home one last time, Hampton students really get to feel the meaning of Christmas. The ceremony lasted about thirty minutes as the tree was lit and attendees awed and snapped pictures. Refreshments were served including those cute Christmas shaped cookies, hot chocolate, and apple cider! What a site to see as this Christmas tree lights the opening of Campus.Â
