So we’ve all heard the myth of eating pineapples before sex to make your vagina taste sweeter, and some of us have even consulted friends to see if they’ve done the same. Heck, Rick Ross made a whole song about Diced Pineapples that had every girl running to their nearest supermarket to pick up a can of diced pineapples themselves. I know I’m guilty of doing this in hopes of making my magic box  taste good enough to keep coming back for more, and even encouraging my friends to do the same.

So while this is technically a myth with no actual scientific research done to support the claims that it works, I can tell you from first-hand experience that this trick does in fact work! We all know the phrase, “You are what you eat,” and this is so very true. The more sugary, fatty, processed foods you eat, the more your vagina will taste foul and bland. So all the McDonalds, Cook Out, Mountain Dew, Coca Cola, Krispy Kreme, and other things you eat that are bad for you actually affect your vagina and how it tastes.

According to sexologist Timaree Schmit, “There’s never been a full-fledged experiment performed and reported in an academic journal, but there is a substantial [amount] of anecdotal evidence about the way that a variety of foods, drinks and activities affect the taste of cum,” she said.

So exactly what foods should you eat/ avoid to make sure your vagina is truly A1? According to Schmit, those with vegan and vegetarian diets, as well as health nuts tend to taste better down there. You should avoid processed foods, drink a ton of water, and ensure that you’re getting enough exercise to achieve the best results. Stay away from red meat, dairy, and alcohol as these will leave you with a sour taste and who wants a sour vagina? Not I.

Eating any citrus fruit, not just pineapples, will seriously help the taste of your box of goodies. If I know that I have an appointment *wink wink* set up, I make sure I drink a lot of detox water for the days leading up to it. I’ll put lemon or strawberries in my water, avoid sugars and carbs, and eat as many pineapples and oranges that I can.

Now ladies, if you’re trying to eat fruit in hopes of alleviating a foul odor that you have down there you may have a different problem on your hands. It’s one thing for your vagina to taste sour, but if it has a fishy, foul odor you need to go to your GYN immediately because you probably have an infection.

This doesn’t just work for women; it works for men too! If you’re concerned about how bae tastes (if that’s your thing, I’m not judging you at all. To each his own, more power to you girl!) slide him some of your pineapples too! Tell him to put down the soda, drink some water, get up and exercise with you, and I promise your entire sex life will improve.

So the short answer to this age old myth is: yes. Eating pineapples does in fact make you taste sweeter. So before your next appointment *wink wink* grab some water, and a can of pineapples. You and your partner will thank me!
