This week Mattel debuted it’s newest Barbie to honor the dancer, singer, and actress Zendaya Coleman. Barbie recognized Zendaya’s encouragement for all girls not only be courageous but more importantly to be themselves.

This one of a kind Barbie doll is a spitting image of Zendaya, replicating her 2015 highly criticized Vivienne Westwood Oscar red carpet look. The doll features Zendaya in a white off the shoulder dress and long faux locs. This is same style that created controversy after negative comments surfaced from Fashion Police’s Giuliana Rancic.

Zendaya is one of few African American women with their own Barbie doll. In a recent interview about her doll she stated, “When I was little I couldn’t find a Barbie that looked like me, my how times have changed.”
