Tamar Juda ’05 spoke to Communication students on November 5th, and one of the main points she stressed was that the first step she took toward her successful career in public relations was her very first internship. While still enrolled at UHart, Tamar landed an internship with Sony Urban, in their marketing department. She says that she knew she wanted to be a publicist after one of Sony’s publicists came to give a talk to the interns.
Tamar says that not being afraid to ask for what you want is important, as is making connections. She said that her first job – as an assistant at Susan Blond PR – came about because of the connections she had at Sony Urban.
Tamar spent a few years working for different PR firms in New York before starting her own firm, Last Word PR.
She says she still gets excited at the thought of coming back to the University and that she truly enjoyed her time here.
