Essentials For An Autumn Weekend Getaway

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Harvard chapter.

As the weather gets colder and the trees get prettier, there’s nothing better than packing a bag and getting away from it all for a relaxing cozy weekend somewhere scenic.  Here are some essentials everyone should have in their weekend bags.

Black Leggings

Perfect for comfortable car rides, watching scary movies, hiking, apple picking, cuddling by a bonfire, and just about any other Fall activity you could possibly imagine.  Definitely a must for any New England weekend escape.

Jeans

They provide a little more warmth than leggings, which will be necessary as winter approaches.  Good for cold walks in the rain, casual dinners out, pumpkin picking, etc.

Cute Waterproof Boots

With cozy Fall weather comes rain, and with rain comes mud and puddles.  Be prepared for anything (it could snow too!) with a cute but sturdy pair of waterproof boots.

Book

For quiet days away from campus, a good book (and some tea) can be all you need.  Grab some reading material you need to catch up on or maybe even – gasp – read a book for fun!

Scarf

Essential for staying warm and warding off pesky Fall colds.

Cozy socks

They keep your feet warm and your soul happy.

Camera

Capture fun times with friends and all that gorgeous New England scenery on camera!  For social media and memories.

Hat

Nothing’s worse than cold ears.

Big Sweaters

Go big (and cozy!) or go home.

Sunglasses

For long walks or drives on bright Fall days!  Just because it’s colder outside doesn’t mean the sun is going away.  Some of the prettiest days of the year are yet to come.
