Valentines Ideas for the College Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Harvard chapter.

1. Cook Dinner Together

Save a little money by opting to cook dinner together instead of heading to a restaurant. Not only will cooking for yourselves be cheaper, it can also be super romantic to cook a meal together!

2. Order Takeout and Watch a Movie

Not feeling the whole “cook your own meal” idea? Why not order in? Hit up your favourite chinese food place, or whatever you decide to go with, bring it home, curl up on the coach and pop in a movie. This might seem basic but in actuality it’s very intimate and lets you spend some alone time with your other half.

3. Go Ice Skating

Take the T, or an Uber, into Boston and take advantage of the cheap outdoor skating options! If the winter weather is too cold for you then look at indoor skating options available at the multitude of rinks in the area!

4. Games Night

If you’re both athletic then consider going to play, or watch, a sport you both love together, like tennis. If you don’t want to be super active then head to your local arcade and have a blast playing the various games. The same concept applies for pool halls or for board games at home!

5. Live Music

Take advantage of the wealth of bars in the Cambridge area that offer free live music! For instance, Toad, located in Porters Square, is known for having nightly live music without a cover charge. If you’re really feeling the music then take it one step further and go to a karaokee bar and do a duet!

6. Go Dancing

There are so many different options for dancing in Cambridge and the Boston area. I would suggest avoiding the club atmosphere that bars like Royal in Boston give off and instead opting for a more intimate setting like the Middle East in Central Square or Havana if you want to take salsa lessons and then dance the night away!
