Healthy Halloween Treats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hawaii chapter.

October is one of the best months of the year! Everyone is snuggling up in the fall weather, or snuggling in the sun here in HI, and getting ready to celebrate one of the best holidays, Halloween. On Halloween, candy reigns supreme, but it’s far from the only treat you can serve up and enjoy. Now, I’m one to always indulge during this month because how can you not make pumpkin muffins and eat discounted candy here and there? But, I always find a way to put a little scary twist to all of my October healthy treats as well. So trick your taste buds with these delicious and chilling festive recipes!

“Boo”nana Pops

Yogurt dipped frozen bananas are simple, delicious and healthy! If you’re feeling a little more flavor, add some coconut onto the yogurt before you add the chocolate chip eyes, they’re to “die” for.

Pumpkin Pie Bites

This recipe is vegan and gluten free and before you gag a little, know that these have maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and pumpkin in them aaaand they’re bake free. So no wait time after prep and you’ve got pumpkin goodness. I’m telling you, I’ve made some killer vegan recipes and this is at the top of the list.

Halloween Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato fries on their own are a delicious alternative to white potatoes and is a healthy starch to add to your plate! To give this recipe a little spice, add some cayenne before you put them in the oven, it gives them a “killer” kick!

Simply Strawberry Ghost Pops

These scrumptious, little white chocolate strawberry ghosts are a perfect after dinner treat. First of all, they’re adorable and they take the “scare” out of eating an unhealthy dessert!

Witchy Guacamole Dip

Especially here in Hawaii, guac and chips is the best beach food. It’s easy to make, lasts a while and with blue corn chips, you’re adding extra protein to the mix! Careful of your roommates or family; those witches better not steal your guac.
