Anyone who lives on or near campus probably knows that it can be difficult finding good places to get a quick caffeine boost! Let’s face it, most of us are broke college students during a horrific cost of living crisis. With that being said, here are some reviews of my two favorite nearby gems that aren’t major corporations using a college location as an excuse to charge $7 for a latte.
Rabbit Rabbit Tea
Rabbit Rabbit Tea, located just off University Ave, is probably one of my favorite tea shops on island. It has a very lovely Alice in Wonderland theme (with merch that you can buy). They have mainly boba tea, but they also have delicious ice cream! It’s remarkably creamy, and honestly is probably way better than my struggle meal (a pint of Ben & Jerry’s).
Whenever I’m at Rabbit Rabbit, I like to get an Earl Grey or Tiramisu Milk tea with brown sugar boba.Rabbit Rabbit offers a variety of sweetness levels so you can pick how sweet your tea will be. I tend to prefer ordering my teas at 50% sweetness, as I’ve found that it’s a perfect mix of bitter and sweet.
For those of you who aren’t fans of tea, I recommend their incredible Queen of Hearts Mojito (non-alcoholic) for some falling down a study rabbit hole energy. The Queen of Hearts Mojito is a wonderfully crisp and slightly fruity drink. It’s super refreshing, and is a perfect alternative for non-tea drinkers.
These drinks are amazing at calming my nerves whenever I’m stressed out studying, so I can confidently give Rabbit Rabbit my seal of approval.
Glazer’s Coffee
I’m sure that a lot of people already know about Glazer’s but it’s one of my favorite coffee shops near campus for a reason. It has an absolutely wonderful ambience reminiscent of a 1960s coffee shop! As an (admittedly) classic movie nerd, I loved the tributes to Audrey Hepburn everywhere!
Glazer’s has a variety of snacks, but I usually stick with an iced hazelnut oatmilk latte with extra espresso to give me that pre-class energy boost I desperately need! It’s a delicious cup of coffee, and should give your taste buds a break from the burnt sludge at Starbucks.I found that this coffee was wonderfully smooth, and sweet enough to taste flavoring but not “covering up the taste of burnt coffee” sweet like certain mega coffee chains.
To wrap it up, please try these incredible places for your coffee or tea needs (especially if you mistakenly signed up for lectures lasting three hours like I did)! You won’t regret it, and neither will your wallet.
