It’s that time of the semester again, the mid-semester blues! Homework is piling up, assignments are increasing, and midterms are on the horizon. I find myself getting too stressed and getting even more behind on my work. Luckily we live in Hawaii and there are so many ways to take a break and relieve that stress. Get rid of the cloud looming over your head with these three tips!

Go for a small hikee

There are so many hikes to do on Oahu and it is a perfect way to get some fresh air and a little exercise. There is no need to plan a long, grueling hike that takes up your entire day and your energy. Finding a small hike to get your mind off of things can help clear your mind and relieve some stress. If you don’t want to go alone, grab a buddy who might be in need of some fresh air too!

jump in the ocean

Taking a dip in the ocean is my favorite way to take a break and relieve stress. Whether I go for a quick surf or just jump in the ocean, it calms my mind and improves my mood. The added plus is that some sunshine helps get your mind off of your assignments.

grab an acai bowl

Acai bowls can be found all over the island and are a great snack! When you’re stressed you might find yourself undereating or eating unhealthy snacks. Taking a break and grabbing a refreshing bowl can help with your mood, as there is a correlation between our diet and our mood! They are packed with so many vitamins and antioxidants. Great brain fuel.

Remember when you find yourself getting stressed or overwhelmed throughout the semester, to allow yourself to take a break. There are so many ways to relieve stress here in Hawaii!
