10 Signs You’re in a Long Distance Relationship with Your Dog

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Helsinki chapter.

It’s no breaking news that being far away from a loved one sucks. Daily texting and Skyping is cold comfort in a long distance relationship ‒ especially when the other one can’t type or even talk! Unfortunately, such wonderful things as going to college, student exchange or travelling mean leaving your best friend behind. Here’s a list of 10 signs that you are in a LDR with your dog.

1. Your phone is filled with pictures of your four-legged friend.

And you constantly force that cuteness on others.

2. You never leave your plate unattended.

Which is actually good because even some human roommates are shameless food stealers.

3. And when you accidentally drop food on the floor you have to clean it up yourself.

Makes you really miss your furry vacuum cleaner.

4. You compare people to your pet.

“I mean you’re OK I guess but I’d still rather hang out with my dog.”

5. You talk about your dog with everyone who cares (or pretends) to listen.

Because your dog has a fascinating personality and his funny antics should be shared with the world!

6. You stop to pet every dog on the street.

Cuteness withdrawal is a real thing.

7. You give your SO belly rubs and call him a good boy.

Face-licking is out ouf bounds though.

8. You sometimes find stale dog treats in your jacket pockets.

No wonder all the random dogs wanted to be your friend.

9. Nobody wants follow you in the bathroom and watch you pee.

At least there are some perks of staying far away from your beloved pet.

10. The warm welcome when you finally see each other is the best thing in the world.

For dogs, the definition of a LDR is you being in a different room. Even five minutes apart from you seems like forever.
