Year: 2nd out of approximately 30
Major: English philology
Hometown: Born and raised in Hamina, escaped to Helsinki where I currently reside
Hobbies: Telling people that I’m into all kinds of art related nonsense but actually sitting at home and watching Arrested Development on Netflix over and over again, slowly forgetting how to play the piano (kidding, I’m still really good) and never getting around to writing anything and beating myself down for it.Â
Relationship status: Lonely
First things first: what’s your favourite drink?
If you’re talking alcoholic beverages, it’s gin and tonic because, to quote a personal hero Ronald Ulysses Swanson, “clear alcohols are for rich women on diets”, and that’s 100% my aesthetic. If you’re talking all beverages, it’s still gin and tonic.
Tell us about your minor subjects.
I’m doing Comparative Lit and Gender Studies. Comparative lit because I like books and because it’s kind of semi-mandatory and none of the other mandatory minor options tickled my fancy. I’m the slowest reader in history, though, and I’m drowning in books that I’ve half-read at best but, I mean, there are worse ways to go, right.
[I’m also doing] gender studies because I think it’s among the most important things you can teach yourself and gender is just such a fascinatingly multifaceted concept, I want to understand it better.
3 things you would take to a desert island.
Oh my god, this question. I would take some paper and a pen, so I could draft a law forbidding this question to be asked ever again. Figured I might as well do some good while I’m out there. I think it’d pass, surely. And for the third thing, some bottles of gin, you know, for messages in bottles. And for the alcohol.
Favourite things to do when you want to chill out and relax?
I’m never not chill and relaxed. Like, there is no process of getting into this state of chill and relaxation, it’s the entire essence of my being.
That was helpful. What do you want to do when you grow up?
I think I’d like to write, like, get myself the Nobel Prize in Literature and just continue to be chill.
