Bored of the Gym? Switch It Up!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at High Point chapter.

As nice as Slane gym is, it can get awfully boring and repetitive if you go regularly.  Your workout results will improve if you switch up your routine occasionally.

Piedmont Environmental Center: 1220 Penny Road, High Point

This trail is about 5 minutes off campus and offers 11 miles of hiking trails on 376 acres of beautifully preserved land.  On this trail you will see wildlife, water, and beautiful untouched forest.  The hills on the trails will work your legs better than any treadmill! The trail is extremely safe and is a family place.   The trail also allows bikes and pets!

Piedmont Parkway, Greensboro

This trail is very similar to the Environmental Center but runs through a business park.  On this trail you will go over creeks on small bridges and if you go far enough you will get to a dock with a scenic lookout.  This trail is also bike and pet friendly.

9Round: 274 Eastchester Drive, High Point

This 30-minute kickboxing workout will have you beat!  The gym is located across from Harris Teeter in the Dunkin Donuts plaza.  You will rotate to 9 different stations doing different boxing exercises at each.  This workout is time efficient and a good mix of cardio, weight training, and muscle toning.  Your first visit here is free!

Christina Buttafuoco is a sophomore Communications-Journalism Major with a minor in English Writing at High Point University. She is a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, a lover of musicals, and an avid viewer of the Food Network. Christina grew up on Long Island, NY and headed down south to North Carolina during those awkward middle school years. Before she moved, her best friend ripped out pages from a fashion magazine and told her not to forget what fashion was. She didn't. Now Christina hopes to be an editor for one of those magazines one day. For now, she is so excited to bring Her Campus to HPU.
