Top 10 Restaurants Every HPU Student Should Know

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at High Point chapter.

Venturing out into the city of High Point could be an intimidating experience if you don’t know where you’re going. Sure, the food on campus beats the food you’d find at any other university, but sometimes you can’t help but crave a little something else. Here are the top 10 places every High Point student hits up. Bonus: Greek life hosts many of their fundraisers at these locations, so you can give back while you chow down.

1. Feeney’s Frozen Yogurt Bar: You haven’t tried frozen yogurt until you’ve tried Feeney’s. They update their flavors every day, and have an abundance of toppings that almost overwhelm. Friend them on Facebook and you can find out what flavors they have each day!

2.  Cookout: This is the perfect 3 a.m. kind of food. Cookout is like the Holy Grail for a lot of northerners who have been missing out. The Cookout Tray gives you the most food for the least amount of money, and you can’t go wrong with one of their many milkshakes.

3. La Ha’s: Oh, La Hacienda. They have the best cheap Mexican food and margaritas. It’s a fun place to go for a celebration, and a quick meal.

4. Gianno’s: Gianno’s might be a little pricey for the average college budget, but definitely worth the splurge once in a while. The Italian food is delicious, and the atmosphere is perfect for a first date.

5. Kozzy’s Grille: Conveniently located right across the street from campus, Kozzy’s serves Greek food but also offers sandwiches, salads, hotdogs, burgers and pitas. It’s a good casual choice with a well-rounded menu.

6. Barberitos: Barberito’s serves delicious Southwestern food. You’re always bound to see someone walking across campus with a Barb’s cup in their hand.

7. Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery: If you’re 21, this is the place to go. They have specialty beers on tap, and plenty of drink specials. The menu is moderate to pricey, but you can’t go wrong no matter what you order. Liberty is definitely the place to go during Parents Weekend.

8. La Fiesta: A good place to go out to dinner for a birthday. Their drinks are reasonable, and the Mexican food is good as well. High Point students clearly love their Mexican food…

9Ham’s: This one’s a bit different. Ham’s is technically a restaurant by day, but on Thursday nights is dominated by HPU students. However, their cheese fries are not to be missed. Grab some sustenance before you belt out that karaoke song.

10. Carolina’s Diner: There’s nothing like going to the diner after a crazy weekend with your friends and catching up. Get your favorite comfort food, relax, and relive your best memories before going back to campus.

Christina grew up on Long Island, NY and headed down south to North Carolina during those awkward middle school years. Before she moved, her best friend ripped out pages from a fashion magazine and told her not to forget what fashion was. She didn't. Now Christina hopes to be an editor for one of those magazines one day. For now, she is so excited to bring Her Campus to HPU.
