It’s no secret that each and every single one of us take many every day privileges for granted. Take for instance, the ability go outside. To be able to step into the fresh air end experience the natural world is an ability we don’t think twice about. Let’s take something even simpler: the ability experience, human touch. Shaking hands, hugging, giving a high five, etc. These are things we do everyday (multiple times a day) and we never once think about what it would be like if we weren’t able to.
Five-year-old, Seth Lane, has had to deal with this unthinkable dilemma since the day he was born. Seth was born with a severe immune deficiency and has been isolate in Great North Children’s Hospital in Newcastle, England for the past few months awaiting his second bone marrow transplant. As he waits for the transplant he hopes to bring awareness to his rare disease and has asked the Internet to wear his favorite color, yellow.
Last week, Seth’s family created and uploaded a video to YouTube of Seth holding up yellow signs explaining his condition and asking that on March 27 people #WearYellowForSeth to raise awareness for this disease. People all over the world are wore yellow to support Seth and it has even spread to our own High Point University community. Even our very own Alpha Gamma Delta sorority showed their support by wearing yellow at an event last week.
(How cute!!!)
Fortunately, Seth has found a bone marrow donor, but he still has to endure four crucial months without an immune system. Show your support for Seth by wearing yellow and take a picture with the hashtag #WearYellowForSeth! If you haven’t seen the video yet, check out this video by CNN!
