5 Creative Christmas Treats Inspired by Pinterest

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

With Christmas right around the corner and many parties to attend, it’s safe to say that candy canes or the classic gingerbread cookie can get kind of old. Christmas treats don’t have to be boring or even hard to bake. These five Pinterest-inspired instructions will get everyone in the holiday spirit and make you look like a decorating genius!

Reindeer Cupcakes

  1. Bake cupcakes of your choice (it doesn’t matter what color or flavor since they will be covered)
  2. Frost the cupcakes with chocolate frosting
  3. Place a Nilla Wafer on one end of the cupcake. Use frosting to top the Nilla Wafer with a brown M&M for the nose (or a red nose for Rudolph!)
  4. On the other end of the cupcake, stick two pretzels side by side for antlers
  5. Top the pretzels with two white M&M’s and a small dot of black frosting for eyes

Christmas Tree Brownies

  1. Bake a brownie in a square pan with foil on the bottom
  2. Let the brownie cool, and then remove it from the pan by lifting the foil
  3. Cut the brownie into three rows. Cut five triangles into each row
  4. Use food coloring to make vanilla frosting green, and pipe the frosting onto each brownie to make it look like a Christmas tree
  5. Add candy, sprinkles, or M&M’s to decorate the tree
  6. Break off the straight part of a candy cane and insert it in the bottom of each brownie for a tree trunk

Oreo Snowmen

  1. Place a stick in the middle of an Oreo
  2. Dip the Oreo in melted white chocolate (melting chocolate can be done in the microwave and should only take about 30 seconds). Make sure excess chocolate has dripped off
  3. Place the Oreo on parchment paper to harden
  4. Use frosting or black and orange colored chocolate to give the Snowman eyes, nose, and a mouth (a toothpick might be helpful to place the features)

Santa Hat Pretzels

  1. Dip a twisted pretzel in melted white chocolate only halfway
  2. Dip the same white chocolate covered side in red sanding sugar, leaving a small section of white still showing
  3. Cut mini marshmallows in half and, using white chocolate, stick it to the side of pretzel to create the hat
  4. Allow the chocolate to harden, and enjoy!

Strawberry Brownie Christmas Tree

  1. Bake brownies in mini muffin tins
  2. Use green food coloring to dye vanilla frosting
  3. Cut off the stem of a strawberry
  4. Once the brownies are cool, use a bit of frosting to place the strawberry upside down on the brownie
  5. Frost the strawberry with a piping bag
  6. Decorate the tree with sprinkles or mini M&M’s or even a candy star for the top
