Avocados have been growing in popularity over the years, partly because they have many health benefits. First, they contain the good kind of fat (monounsaturated). Avocados hold over twenty different vitamins! It’s also a nutrient dense super food that basically goes well with anything. The native tree of Mexico harbors the delicious, soft, green fruit with a giant seed in the middle. Now they are grown in tropical climates around the world. Avocado mixes well with anything because of its’ slightly bland and unique taste. It’s so buttery and delicious you’ll want to eat one everyday. I’ve listed five food things to do with your avocado, besides Instagram it. ;)

1.    Fill it up! Popular recipes include baking an egg inside of the halves and topping it with bacon, cheese, and sriracha. Tuna stuffed avocado is always a good idea. You can also pour any dressing that you like into it and just eat it with a spoon! Yummy!
2.    Put it on top of anything, literally anything. Avocado is the ultimate addition to make any meal that much better. If you’re asked at the deli, “Would you like to add avocado for an extra dollar?” you always say yes. It can go on anything from salads to sandwiches.
3.    Cut it up and eat it plain. I always like to put a little salt and pepper on it to enhance the flavor. Slice it up or just eat it out of the shell.
4.    Mash it up. Guacamole is one of the best foods ever created, in my opinion. This is perfect when you have an avocado that’s a little too soft or about to go bad. The best thing about homemade guac is it’s so simple and quick! Avocado toast is extremely trendy these days, not to mention freaking delicious. This goes well with eggs for breakfast or can be a quick, filling snack.
5.    Blend your avocado into a delicious smoothie! Choose berries or even chocolate to go in as well. Adding avocado to your smoothie gives it the perfect texture, making it super creamy. It’s also a healthier option than adding ice cream to your smoothie. Try this Banana Avocado recipe from Popsugar Fitness.
