COVID-19 has changed the way we all are able to safely socialize and have fun. For college students, this has been particularly challenging – gone are the days of carefree parties, concerts and even just grabbing meals with friends. Instead, many of us choose to hang out with friends virtually or while being socially distant and wearing masks. The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine has HC Hofstra members excited to get back to some sense of normalcy, hopefully in the coming months. Here are five things they can’t wait to do the second the pandemic ends!
- Get back to restaurants and movie theaters
-
“Go out to eat with some normalcy.” – Max Coven
“Go to the movies with friends.” – Allison Ekberg
“Go to the movies! Also to be able to go out to eat!” – Dorothea Armijos
- Experience New York City
-
“FINALLY go into the city and having the most New York City experience I can without having to worry about the pandemic!” – Elisabeth Ford
“Walk aimlessly around NYC and go clubbing.” – Claire Blaha
“Finally being able to go out and party in NYC!! Specifically at gay clubs.” – Katie Pericak
- Travel
-
“I am planning on traveling to a country I’ve never been to! Hopefully I will bring some friends or family along for the ride.” – Margaret Engel
“When it’s COMPLETELY safe I want to get back to traveling! My heart is at its happiest when I’m experiencing new things and traveling outside of my comfort zone, and since the pandemic began my comfort zone has gotten a lot smaller. I cannot wait to just have experiences again without my health being at risk, I will definitely never take travel for granted again!” – Kaitlyn BancroftÂ
- Experience live music
-
“Go to a concert!” – Lauren Ballinger
- Hang out with friends
-
“I’m excited to hang out with my friends and watch movies, play games and eat food without stressing about getting people sick.” – Anna DeGoede
“Honestly, just being able to hang out with my friends and give them all hugs!” – Kayla BlonigenÂ
HC Hofstra members have big plans for post-COVID-19 life, and we can’t wait until the public health situation improves. Until then, remember to mask up and make smart, safe choices so we can get back to normal as soon as possible!
