As it inches closer to spring, the winter clothes we’ve been wearing are starting to seem a bit drab. Unfortunately we still have a bit longer to wait for the warm weather. In the mean time here are seven easy (and affordable!) ways to freshen up those winter clothes and start transitioning into spring.
1. Nothing spices up a look like a bold belt. Add a belt with a pop of color or a funky print to a basic tee and jeans ensemble, or layer a belt over a favorite dress to give it a fresh twist. These cute belts are from Forever 21, and they each cost less than $6.
2. Another fashionable (and functional!) outfit add-on is a shoulder bag. There are tons of styles to choose from, like this orange bag from Target ($14.99), and this H&M bag ($12.95). Its green color is perfect to help transition into spring!
3. For all those accessory fans out there (myself included!) try adding one bright, bold piece of jewelry to your collection. These colbat H&M accents pop with any outfit, and, for under $5 a piece, you can get a couple of different options without breaking the bank.
4. Tights are another great way to freshen up your favorite look. You can try a bold color, like
these magenta tights from Forever 21 ($6.50) or keep it a bit simpler with a subtle pattern. These fishnet tights, also from Forever 21 ($4.80), add a fun twist while keeping a more sophisticated look.
5. For those of you that are fans of fun makeup and nail design there are some simple ways for you to freshen up your look as well. Makeup fanatics: give white eyeliner a try. Put a classic black liner on the top of your eyes and then line under and in the corners of your eyes with the white. It adds a subtle variation to the usual and helps you look more awake. One of the best white eyeliner to use is the White Pencil Liner from the Sephora Collection.
6. Another fabulous, and underused, makeup tool is lipstick. Just one swipe of lipstick can take your outfit to a whole new level. The hottest colors right now are a tangerine red, seen above on Kim Kardashian, and bright pink signature color of Nicki Minaj. Sephora has a great selection of lipsticks, there’s a color for every skin tone.
7. The final tip on updating your look involves hair. Your hair is a big part of your look, so get a little adventurous and try something new. Get your hair cut like your favorite celebrity, or try a new color. It’s amazing how much highlights can change your look! For the most adventurous collegiettes, try a funky streak in your hair, like the cotton candy bun Lauren Conrad tweeted recently.
Updating your look doesn’t have to be complicated, or expensive. Even the simplest accessories can freshen up a classic outfit. Your campus is your personal runway, so rock it!
