Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! This is the perfect time to experiment with some fun makeup looks. I’ve created five different eye looks to try out this Valentine’s season. They range from subtle and simple, to bold and complex. I hope this inspires you to try something new this February! I want to start with a few key terms that I will mention in these descriptions: the crease, lower lash line, inner corner, and outer V.
Here is a diagram with placement labels to assist you!
LOOK 1
This is the most simple look in this lookbook. Begin with brushing your bronzer throughout your crease and across your eyelids with a fluffy blending brush. This does not have to be precise whatsoever- it truly is to just get a wash of color on your eyes. Next, grab any pink eyeshadow on a small blending brush and run it on your lower lash line. This will begin to bring in that Valentine’s element to your look. Next, I took a darker pink/mauve color and focused that on the outer edge of your lower lash line. If you want to, you can wing it up into the outer V of your eyelid. Finally, pop a shimmer of your choice (I chose a light pink) in your inner corner with your finger and drag the remainder onto your lid. Finish this look off with your favorite mascara or lashes. This subtle look is a great way to bring some pink into your February 14th without stepping too far out of your comfort zone. This look would pair well with any shade of blush and any lip color.
LOOK 2
Begin by brushing a light pink eyeshadow all across your eyelid and crease. A good substitute for the shadow is using a powder blush. If you want a really opaque base, you might want to start with liquid blush underneath the shadow. Next, bring a darker pink or mauve color on the outer V of your eyelid, blending it upwards into your original shade. Finally, pop a light pink or champagne shimmer all over your lid and inner corner. Finish it off with your favorite mascara or lashes. This look would beautifully pair with a bright pink blush and any lip color.
LOOK 3
Now, let’s begin being a bit more bold with our shadows. Begin by brushing a light pink eyeshadow all across your eyelid and crease. A good substitute for the shadow is using a powder blush. Then, take a red color and run it through your crease to add dimension. Follow that up with a burgundy shade, keeping it focused on the outer edge of your eye. Bring that same shade onto your lower lash line as well. Finally, top it off with a red shimmer (or any shimmer of your choosing) and a light shimmer on your inner corner. Add a mascara or lash of your choice and this look is complete! It would pair perfectly with a red, light pink, or mauve blush, as well as a mauve/nude lip. If you want to make a bold choice, a dark burgundy lip would also look phenomenal.
LOOK 4
This look is a bit more complicated than the rest. Begin by brushing a light pink eyeshadow all across your eyelid and crease. Next, bring a darker pink or mauve color on the outer V of your eyelid, blending it upwards into the original shade. Then, add a burgundy shade to the very outer edge, using a light hand. Drag that shade underneath your eye as well. Now, create a black wing with the eyeliner of your choice. To add the Valentine’s flair, draw or trace a heart with eyeliner right above the end of your wing. Smudge a dark shadow very close to your lower lash line, connecting to the wing. Top this look off with a light pink shimmer on the inner corner and eyelid. Add a mascara or lash of your choice and this look is complete! It would pair perfectly with a red, light pink, or mauve blush, as well as a mauve/nude lip.
LOOK 5
This is the final look! I would recommend this look to people with a bit more experience in makeup. Begin with taking a red eyeliner and creating the round shape above your crease. Connect this sideways parentheses-like-shape to the outer edge of your eye (like a wing). Next, take a hot pink eyeliner and cover the rest of your eye with it. Be precise towards your inner corner, but let the pink and red blend together towards the outer edge. Next, take a light pink shadow and pop that on the very inner part of your eyelid. Take a hot pink shimmer and put that on your eyelid, exactly where you placed the hot pink eyeliner. If you do not have eyeliner in these shades, feel free to substitute it for eyeshadow. The lines will not be as precise, but you can still get a gorgeous look. Lastly, bring the red to the outer lower lash line, as well as a shimmer on the inner lower lash line. Add a mascara or lash of your choice and this eye look is complete! It would pair perfectly with a red, light pink, or mauve blush, as well as a mauve/nude or red lip.
I hope this look book inspires you or your friends to experiment with color in your everyday makeup routines. These looks can be really mixed, matched, and customized! Valentine’s Day is not only important for showing love to others, but also to yourself. Take some time to become your most confident self and express yourself through the art of makeup!
