Daily Affirmations You Can Use to Start Every Day With Positivity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

It is important in day to day life to always treat others with kindness, but it is even more important to make sure that you are treating yourself with the same kindness. Many times we will speak to yourselves in a way that we would never even dare to speak like to our friends or our family. If we would not dare to say these things to friends or family, we should never say those things to ourselves. However, it is understandable as many people who struggle with anxiety, depression or any other mental disorders can struggle greatly with self-love. One of the first things many therapists will tell you is how helpful daily affirmations can be to help improve that self-love.

It is scientifically proven that negative words will have a negative effect on all organisms. There have been many studies done on plants regarding this idea. Researchers will have two groups of plants and every day talk to one group with kind, loving words and the other with hateful words. In almost every study the group that received negativity wilted much quicker than the other. Even though this study is done with plants, the same exact thing will happen to human beings.

If we tear ourselves down each and every day we will get tired, worn out and will wilt much like plants do. Daily affirmations are an amazing way to combat this circle of negativity that sometimes we create for ourselves. Getting up each morning, looking in the mirror and just saying a few positive words can have so many benefits. Below is a list of 25 affirmations that can help you start every day with a positive mindset.

“I am Strong, capable, and confident.”

“I feel the loving energy of everything around me.”

“I am beautiful.”

“I trust myself.”

“I am loyal to my pursuit of happiness.”

“I am worthy of love.”

“I am not what others say I am. I am my own person. Only my opinion of myself matters.”

“Today I am choosing to be positive no matter what.”

“I know and value my own self-worth.”

“Today I am going to make sure I put myself first.”

“I am my own best friend.”

The key to starting your day with positivity is to not put pressure on yourself. If it is especially hard to get out of bed and being positive just does not seem like an option, that is okay. Hopefully, as you practice saying your daily affirmations each morning it will come so easily that even on a day like that you will still get up each day and say them.

You can pick one from this list, five or all of them to say each morning, or you can switch it up every day. The point is to find words that resonate with you and make you feel happy and excited to start the day. If those words are above, that is amazing. If they are something you create, even better. Just remember to treat yourself with the kindness and love that you deserve.
