On a night that is usually dedicated to celebrating the best in show business, the 2018 Golden Globes had a different tone. The question of the night was, “Why are you wearing black?” instead of, “Who are you wearing?” Sparked by recent allegations of sexual harassment, gender inequality, and more, Hollywood’s biggest names used their platform to share the message that time is up. The red carpet was a sea of black as celebrities arrived to show solidarity with the Time’s Up movement, a coalition created by some of Hollywood’s biggest names to confront “systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential.” From black gowns to Time’s Up pins, celebrities showed their support for the movement while still giving us some of our red carpet looks. Without further ado, here are HC Hofstra’s favorite looks from the 2018 Golden Globes.
Kerry Washington
Prabal Gurung
Our favorite boss babe clearly had the fashion situation handled. The Scandal star stunned in a strapless Prabal Gurung dress with sparkling sequins and a stunning slit to show off her stunning mesh heels with flower appliques. Talk about a real life Gladiator.

The Handmaid’s Tale actress stepped onto the red carpet in an Oscar de la Renta pantsuit that we know Lorelai Gilmore would have loved. With a black flower applique over a white satin top and black sequin accents, this look gave us all the heart eyes.

Mandy Moore
Rosie Assoulin

As if we don’t all cry every week during This Is Us, Mandy Moore made us emotional again, but this time with her gorgeous ensemble. She stepped out in a stunning Rosie Assoulin gown with a red statement sash around the waist and bright red lips. Can you say “stunning”?!
Â
Millie Bobby Brown
Calvin Klein
On a scale of 1 to 10, Millie Bobby Brown’s Calvin Klein dress was an 11. Yes, that joke is overused, but there’s nothing better than to see our favorite Stranger Things star serving looks at the Golden Globes at just 13 years old. THIRTEEN! Throwback to when we were 13 and had acne and braces. How did she get so lucky?
Â
Tracee Ellis Ross
Marc Jacobs
The Blackish star is known for her fashion risks and Tracee Ellis Ross definitely did not disappoint. There is NO ONE would could’ve pulled this Marc Jacobs ensemble off better than Ross, so we are going to let her Instagram pictures speak for itself. (Click here)
Â
Claire Foy
Stella McCartney
She’s the Queen for a reason, people! Claire Foy wasn’t the only one sporting pants on the red carpet, but her take on the classic menswear ensemble was an outfit even the real Queen of England would envy (and she only wears dresses). With the slicked-back hair and the popping red lip, Foy could do no wrong.

Reese Witherspoon
Zac Posen
It’s no lie that Reese Witherspoon was a vision in her custom Zac Posen gown. The fitted, one shoulder velvet dress was the perfect look to accompany her night of wins for her show Big Little Lies, which she co-produced with Nicole Kidman and starred alongside the cast of our dreams, including Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley.
Â
Diane Kruger
Prada
A CAPE! That’s pretty much all you need to know about Diane Kruger’s regal Prada gown. Not only did Kruger stun on the red carpet, she also made her relationship official with The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. But, that’s not all. Kruger also starred in the German film, In The Fade, which took home the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film. Obviously, it was a big night for her (and that cape).

Angelina Jolie
Atelier Versace
Leave it to Angelina Jolie to take statement sleeves to a whole new level! Her black dress had a sheer neckline and the most amazing feathered sleeve cuffs – and we’re trying to think of ways to bring this look into our own wardrobes.
