This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Halloweekend is officially here and we’re ready! Or at least, most of us are ready. If you aren’t, fear not!

Here are easy last-minute Halloween costumes that can be made with things you already have in your closet!

JEANS

A pair of denim jeans opens the door to many ideas!

  • Cowgirl – Add a cowboy hat and a flannel shirt with a pair of jeans, and you’ll be the cutest cowgirl in the wild west!
  • Construction Worker – Wrap a flannel around your waist, grab a black shirt and some accessories like a tool belt or construction hat, and you’re ready to hit any construction site – or campus party!

OVERALLS

A pair of overalls can go a long way!

  • Chucky – Add a striped shirt with a pair of overalls, and you quickly become the scariest doll around!
  • Scarecrow – Wear a flannel, overalls and a straw hat, and you will fit in at any farm, fall festival or Halloween party!
  • Minion – Wear a yellow shirt under your overalls to transform yourself into a minion from Despicable Me!
  • Agnes – Pair overalls with a yellow or striped shirt, and watch Despicable Me’s favorite youngest sister, Agnes come to life!
  • Mario and Luigi – Grab a friend and a pair of overalls, choose a red or green shirt, and you can become one of the two iconic video game characters!

WHITE T-SHIRT

With a white t-shirt and some paint, the possibilities are endless!

  • Phineas – Paint some horizontal orange stripes onto a white shirt, grab a pair of jean shorts, and easily transform yourself into Phineas from Phineas and Ferb.
  • Twister – Paint some blue, yellow, red and green circles onto your shirt and bring the board game Twister to life!
  • Referee – Paint some vertical black lines on your shirt, grab a whistle and get ready to referee all night long!
  • Hippie – Tie-dye your shirt, grab your favorite, loosest pair of jeans, and dig out those round framed sunglasses to return to the psychedelic 60’s!

SPARKLY MINI SKIRT

Depending on the color of your sparkly skirt, there are many possibilities!

  • Fairy – Grab any color sparkly skirt and a pair of wings, and you’re ready for a magical night!
  • Alien – Just like our fairy, any color sparkly skirt and a pair of wings can transform you into an adorable extra-terrestrial!
  • Flapper – Take a step back in time by pairing a black, gray or white sparkly skirt and some beads, and sparkly headband and you’re ready to hit any speakeasy!
  • Cupid – A red skirt and some heart accessories can transform you into an iconic cherub.
  • Fortune Teller – Pair any color sparkly skirt with a black or white shirt or tank, add large hoop earrings, and you’ll be telling fortunes all night!
  • Taylor Swift – Grab any color sparkly skirt, and dress up as your favorite Taylor Swift era! This is also a perfect reason to wear your Eras Tour outfit again!

WHITE DRESS

A simple white dress can be used for many different costumes!

  • Pirate – Wear a white dress, a black belt or corset, along with simple accessories such as a pirate hat and large hoop earrings, and you will channel your inner Jack Sparrow!
  • Angel – A white dress, halo and wings easily makes you an angel!
  • Princess Leia – A white dress, a brown belt, and twisting your hair into space buns pays tribute to Carrie Fisher’s legendary Princess Leia from Star Wars.

BLACK JACKET

Incorporating a black jacket into your outfit spurs a variety of costume ideas!

  • Biker – A black jacket, jeans and a bandana will have you living to ride and riding to live – even if just for the night.
  • Men in Black – A black jacket, white button down shirt, black pants and a black tie can make you the newest Men in Black secret agent.
  • Detective – A black jacket, a fake badge, and dark glasses will get you ready to solve all of the evening’s mysteries!

Have a fun and safe Halloweekend!
