Must See Monday: 5 Shows to Watch to De-Stress

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.
Spring semester has just begun and I don’t know about you, but I’m already deep in work and flat out stressed. I’m starting to figure out when I should do what work and when I need a break, which is something that everybody needs to take, even if it’s just for 20 minutes. TV has always been a safe haven for me to turn back to when I want to de-stress and forget my troubles and I hope it works for you also! Here are my favorite shows to watch to relax!

1. Friends
This show is my all time favorite comedy. So much so that it was my bat mitzvah theme. If you haven’t seen this show, you’ve clearly been doing something wrong. MUST WATCH.

2. Parks and Recreation
This show can sometimes be silly, but the actors do such a good job with the material and really bring it to life in ways you never thought were possible. Amy Poehler is in it and pre-male movie lead star Chris Pratt.

3. Modern Family
Groundbreaking television without a doubt. Coming from somewhat of a modern family myself with half-siblings, this show will definitely keep you hooked on the realistic stories.

4. Chopped
Chopped is definitely one of my guilty pleasures. Actually, The Food Network is my guilty pleasure. Yelling at the TV about why Chef X shouldn’t put that extra sprinkle of smoked paprika as a garnish will definitely let you let off some steam.

5. Drake and Josh
Stay with me for this one. I have nieces and nephews, so I use it as my excuse to watch some of my favorite childhood shows again. What I found, however, is the fact that because the show reminds me of my childhood, it takes me back to a stress-free zone. Simply pick your favorite childhood show and watch! (There are episodes on YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.
