Top 5 Coffee Shops on Long Island (According to a Self-Proclaimed Coffee Snob)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

As someone with a far-from-mild caffeine addiction, I am always thinking about coffee. I love nothing more than spending a couple hours with friends in a cute coffee shop with amazing drinks, and I long for the day when I can do so safely again. There’s a lot of amazing coffee shops in NYC, but this time we’re keeping it local. Here are a few of my favorite places to fuel my need for caffeine on Long Island.

Kookaburra Coffee Co. (Rockville Centre & Malverne)

My current favorite place to get coffee! With locations in both Rockville Centre and Malverne, Kookaburra has yet to disappoint. This cash-only joint has absolutely amazing coffee, fresh baked pastries, fancy toasts and grab-and-go snacks. Their cold brew is solid and they have really interesting seasonal drinks. From lavender lattes to a classic PSL, Kookaburra is sure to satisfy.

Sweet & Savory Cafe (Baldwin)

With “more than just great coffee,” Sweet & Savory Cafe has a lot to offer. From solid brunch options, boba, coffee and even alcoholic drinks, this cafe is not to be missed. Safety is a priority for everyone right now, and the people at Sweet & Savory have gone above and beyond to make their cafe COVID-19 friendly. Should you take a trip to this shop, they have online ordering and contactless curbside pick up! Enjoy amazing drinks and treats as safely as possible!

The Witches Brew (West Hempstead)

This felt obligatory. The Witches Brew is THE place for cool fall vibes year round. They have a massive coffee menu where you can pick from classic espresso drinks or go for one of their many specialty lattes! (My fave is the Broomstick, which is a latte with vanilla and cinnamon syrup!) Beyond their amazing coffee, they also have vegan and vegetarian meals and desserts that are to die for. This spot is also cash only, and it’s definitely an experience.

Flux Coffee (Farmingdale)

Light blue mugs, tiny white and blue tiles and exposed brick make a very ~aesthetically pleasing~ space.  Home of the famous “Big Ass Drink,” Flux Coffee is a must try. Lavender and smoked maple lattes, kombucha on tap and fresh pastries keep customers coming back again and again. Flux Coffee is well worth the visit!

Sweetie Pie’s on Main (Cold Spring Harbor)

Check out Sweetie Pie’s on Maine for delicious iced coffee with tons of fun flavors to choose from! The great coffee is obviously a draw, but the real star of the show here is their scones. They’re big, buttery, flavorful and SO GOOD! Get yourself a blueberry scone and some iced coffee and hop out back to their super cute patio! Yummy drinks, baked goods and pretty views are plenty of reasons to head out to Sweetie Pie’s!

I highly recommend checking out ALL of these amazing coffee spots. They all have something special to offer, and even if you aren’t a coffee person, there is absolutely something there for you. Do yourself a favor and go on a little adventure for coffee! It’ll be worth it, I promise.
