WHAT ARE YOU INVOLVED IN ON CAMPUS?
“I am involved in a lot. I am going through new member process for Delta Phi Epsilon. I am in Adopt a Dream. I am on the cheerleading team. I just applied for an RA position, so I am still waiting to hear back about that. I am in the Blue Leadership Program, and I am waiting for my certificate for Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.”
WHAT IS THE BLUE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM & HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED?
“It is basically just a group of about 20 people who come together, and we have presentations every week on how to build your leadership skills more. My coach sent me an email asking if I would be interested, and it sounded really fun, so I applied and got in.”
WHAT IS IT LIKE BEGINNING THE NEW MEMBER PROCESS FOR A SORORITY?
“It is actually a lot of fun. I absolutely love the girls in my pledge class—they are total sweethearts. I love all of the sisters that I have met so far that are already in Delta Phi Epsilon. I have heard a rumor floating around that there are over 61 of us, so it is going to be a little bit until I get to know everybody. But so far, everyone that I have met, I love to death. They are really funny, sweet, and down to earth. It’s just an amazing group of girls.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A CHEERLEADER?
“I have been a cheerleader my entire life. I have been cheerleading since I was literally seven years old. It is just something that I can’t live without. I can’t picture myself not doing cheerleading. Even when I am seventy I will probably still want to be involved in cheerleading somehow. It has become a part of me that I don’t think that I will ever officially be able to let go.”
WHAT IS THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE CHEERING?
“A couple of years ago while I was on All-Star Cheerleading, there was a wardrobe malfunction. Not only did my skirt lift up, but I had a giant wedgie, and my shoes ended up flying off during that same performance. It was really bad.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A HOFSTRA STUDENT?
“[Hofstra] was my top choice school, so being here in of itself is a lot of fun and excitement. I really like all of the involvement. I would say that is my favorite part about being a Hofstra student. There are just so many opportunities and so many things to do on campus. Even though I love the city, I don’t have to go into the city to have a lot of fun. There is always somebody to talk to or go see. The campus is big enough to where not everyone is going to know your business, but small enough to have a small close-knit group of friends.”
