Ways to Spend Your Lazy Sundays, Without Leaving Your House

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

If you often find yourself sleeping in until 11:30 a.m. with all of your homework finished and absolutely no desire to get up and go anywhere, have no fear! We believe Sundays should be for relaxing. If you have no idea how you’re going to spend the rest of your day, here is a list of ways to spend your lazy Sundays. And don’t worry, most of these can be done sitting down.

Do something artsy like decorate your dorm, rearrange furniture doodle.

Sitting in your lounge, you realize how stale and bland your surroundings are. If you’re artsy, try drawing something to hang on the wall. If you’re not, maybe order some photo prints through Shutterfly or Walgreens and make a nice wall display of this year’s memories with your roommates and friends! Or try moving some furniture around. Be creative in any way you can think of.

Binge watch a new show on Netflix.

This one takes a lot less effort and is the more common way to spend a lazy Sunday. If you’ve been especially stressed lately after midterms, a day spent in bed in your pjs with a big mug of hot chocolate and a cozy blanket is exactly what you need. Don’t like Netflix? Catch up on all those YouTube subscriptions you’ve been missing! Enjoy a little self-TLC today. You deserve it!

Do laundry, clean up or get organized.

If you’re one of those people who need to feel productive, do what needs to be (or can be) done around your room. Do some laundry, vacuum the carpet, organize your closet or find a more innovative way to store your belongings. Does your brain feel cluttered during the week? Make an effort to keep a planner with all of your due dates in it and then actually follow through with keeping it updated. Spend some free time putting important events in a calendar so you don’t forget about them, too!

Experiment with new makeup looks and hairstyles.

Since you’re not going out, now would be the perfect time to try out all those makeup looks you’ve been seeing or one of those insane hairstyles that seem so easy but are actually really hard. No one has to see you today, so who cares if you look a little crazy. Maybe you’ll find a look that’s doable during the week!

Start a new Pinterest board that will inspire you.

This one requires little to no effort, but can use up hours of your time. I don’t know about you guys, but once I get started pinning, I just can’t stop.  Find new cute little decorating ideas, costume ideas for next Halloween (it’s never to early to get started), holiday gift ideas or recipes to try. Maybe you’ll feel so inspired you’ll want to start one of them today!

Lounge around with roommates and friends in your pajamas.

If your roommates around around and also have nothing to do get everyone together and have a pajama party. Bake cookies, have a movie marathon with lots of snacks and talk about things that have been going on in your lives lately. Have friends down the hall? Go see what they’re up to and invite them too!

Just go back to sleep.

As a college kid, how often do you actually get to catch up on sleep? Take advantage of it and go back to bed!
