My mother formerly worked at Clinique, and learned lots of timeless tips for skincare and makeup. I’ve heard many of these for years so I hope they are as helpful to you as they have been to me!
- Always wet your face, especially eyes, to loosen up the makeup so it is easier to remove and so you aren’t tugging on your skin, which can cause wrinkles and eyelashes to fall out. After the water loosens your makeup, use a wipe or cotton ball to remove it with an eye makeup remover or micellar water. Be gentle.
- Don’t “pump” your mascara. It pushes more air into it and causes it to dry out quicker.
- Use your ring finger when tapping in eye cream and concealer as it is the lightest finger and will prevent you from rubbing too hard.
- Match your foundation to your neck, not to your cheek.
- Always remove all traces of makeup before you go to sleep. Your skin needs to breathe.
- Wear Sunscreen Daily!!!
- When applying makeup, start with eyes and brows, then foundation, powder, and blush/bronzer.
- Use a light facial scrub daily to exfoliate your skin so moisturizer can be absorbed better.
- Avoid strong soaps and cleansers as they can strip the oils from your face.
- Pat your face dry with a towel, do not rub the towel all over your face.
