If you’re similar to me and love beauty products, the best part of getting ready to either go to Leitrim’s on a Wednesday night or off-campus on a Saturday night is sitting down to do your makeup and nails. I’m always looking for something new to try because the same old colors and shades can get boring fast…hopefully fall inspires you to branch out and make a statement.
Nails
Everyone loves the neutral and dark colors that start becoming every girl’s go-to mani/pedi shades once September rolls around and the days start to cool off. There are so many great colors that range from your average maroon and beige to fun pops of color. Here are some awesome colors that will compliment any outfit or look:
“buy me a cameo” by Essie
“go overboard” by Essie – my personal favorite
“mink muffs” by Essie
“lincoln park after dark” by OPI
“wrapped in rubies” by Essie
Eye Makeup
Playing with different colors of eye shadow can be rather daunting, but these specific shades will be hard to shy away from and flatter every eye color. My favorite eye shadow palettes to use when experimenting with color are the Lorac PRO Palette 2 and the new Urban Decay Smoky Palette. These eye shadows blend SO well and should make it less scary to try experiment.
Lorac PRO Palette 2:
Which colors to try:
“Jade:” this shimmery emerald green looks great on the lower lash-line and makes any neutral eye original and bold
“Plum:” being a Holy Cross student, who doesn’t love a good purple!!!! This color looks awesome on the outer half of the eyelid blended with a shimmery champagne color on the rest of the lid
Naked Smoky Palette by Urban Decay
Which colors to try:
“Smolder:” this purple/brown shadow is gorgeous and can be used as eyeliner or an outer-lid shade
“Slanted:” this is definitely the best silver color to finish off your smoky eye for a night out
