If you haven’t already heard, the runtime for the new film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a whopping 2h 49m. Sitting in a crowded movie theater for nearly three hours may be quite a deterrent for those that have yet to see the film, therefore raising an interesting question: Is this movie really worth the watch?

To put it simply, this movie definitely does not fail to channel the pure joy that is an Eras Tour show, as it is basically a recording of the entire concert from start to finish. This is a tried and true example of a concert film; viewers are not given any behind-the-scenes looks of the tour. Rather, the movie is meant to provide an authentic and exuberant experience for both those who did not see the show in person and lucky concert-goers who want to relive the night.

In addition to this, Swifties have been turning this film into a cultural phenomenon. Instead of keeping quiet during the movie, fans have been treating theaters like arenas by singing, dancing, and even trading friendship bracelets, which is a true testament to the loyalty of Taylor’s fanbase. They are nowhere near a stadium or Taylor herself, but they do not hesitate to embrace her craft in all its glory (even in a dark movie theater!).

Long story short, if you didn’t attend the Eras Tour in-person, watching this film is a great way to live out that experience! Keep in mind that it is not quite the same as the live show, but it may very well satisfy your desire to spend hundreds or even thousands on tickets to the concert.
