Did you know that this semester the Jo is offering a group exercise class called “Just Dance?” It’s offered every Thursday from 2:45pm-3:45pm and is taught by Joanne. I signed up to attend and it was such an awesome workout!
How it works is Joanne connects her phone to the TVs in the multipurpose room, opens up the “Just Dance Now” website, and picks videos for everyone to follow along with!Â
There were eight of us in attendance on February 8th which ended up working perfectly because a lot of the “Just Dance” videos are done individually or in groups of two or four. We started with a warm up, danced to about ten videos, and then ended with a cool down. Some of my favorite videos were “Waka Waka” by Shakira and “#thatPOWER” by will.i.am ft. Justin Bieber. She also took two of my recommendations which were “We Speak No Americano” and “Mambo No. 5.” The difficulty varied from video to video, but there are plenty of ways to modify difficult moves. For some reason, my picks are always in the “hard” category, so I apologize to anyone who chooses to attend on the same days that I do!Â
I was sweating by the end of the class, but if you need statistical evidence that the class is a fantastic workout, my Apple Watch said I burned 340 calories and that my heart ranged from 90-144 beats per minute. My average heart rate was 123 beats per minute.
You don’t need any experience with dance or the “Just Dance” game to attend! Sign ups open on Tuesdays at 2:45pm on the MyHC app. Hope to see you there!Â
